Civic Alert Systems Emerges as Winner of Binghamton Business Plan Competition

The Binghamton Business Plan Competition, held on Wednesday morning, saw the reveal of this year’s winners. Binghamton Mayor Jared Kraham was present to announce the recipients, who were awarded funding to establish businesses within the City of Binghamton. Among the winners were Ryan Crist and Jason Duda of Civic Alert Systems from Vestal. They received a $5,000 grant for their innovative web application that enables counties, municipalities, and local governments to communicate directly with residents via text during emergencies such as the COVID-19 pandemic or severe weather events.

Umahari from Binghamton won the second-place prize, while 2nd Heaven from Vestal secured third place in the competition. The event showcased the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of individuals and teams within the Binghamton community.
