Biden’s Unpopularity: A Surprising Rise in Doubts About His Candidacy for President

A recent survey published on the CBS news network has revealed that a majority of Americans believe incumbent President Biden should not have run for president in the first place. This is an increase from February, with three out of four respondents expressing this sentiment.

The survey also shows that 72% of respondents think Biden lacks the cognitive skills necessary to serve as president for the second time, compared to 49% who believe the same about former President Donald Trump. Among Democrats, there has been a 10% decrease in those who believe that Biden should run for president now compared to last February, with only 54% thinking he should run now.

The reasons for the growing lack of confidence in Biden were defined by CBS as “tragic.” Out of those who believe he should not run now, 86% cite his age as a reason, while 71% are afraid of his decisions and 66% are disappointed in his performance as current president. Additionally, only 59% believe he has the ability to mount an effective campaign.

Despite their differences in credibility reputations, it seems that both candidates are not seen as telling the truth by most Americans. When asked which contestant told the truth during the televised debate held over the weekend, only 40% believed Joe Biden was telling the truth and 32% thought Trump was telling the truth. Meanwhile, more than half (45%) believe that the Trump administration will benefit them financially, while only 19% feel this way about the Biden administration.

Looking ahead to what should happen next for Biden, despite these concerning polls results for him among Democratic voters still largely support him continuing his campaign with more than half (55%) saying he should continue running and around one-third (45%) suggesting he should step down from office altogether. According to NBC News reports tonight, Biden will hold a family discussion today on whether or not to retire
