Biden’s Gaza Peace Roadmap Meets Resistance from Both Sides.

Benjamin Netanyahu views Joe Biden’s ceasefire proposal in Gaza as “incomplete”

As American President Joe Biden unveiled a roadmap for Gaza over the weekend, there were mixed reactions from both sides of the conflict. While some hoped that the proposal would lead to a lasting peace agreement, others believed it was incomplete.

According to a government spokesperson, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his dissatisfaction with the roadmap. He believed that it did not include enough concessions from Hamas and that more needed to be done to ensure lasting peace.

The roadmap included several key components, including a six-week ceasefire, a withdrawal of Israeli forces from densely populated areas in Gaza, and the release of hostages and Palestinian prisoners held by Israel. The second phase of the roadmap was scheduled to be negotiated during the initial ceasefire period, with the potential for it to become permanent if negotiations were successful.

However, Hamas reiterated its demands for a permanent ceasefire and a total Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. Netanyahu maintained that the conditions for a permanent ceasefire had not changed and included the destruction of Hamas and the release of all hostages.

Despite some positive reception from Hamas, there were still significant sticking points in the negotiations. Tensions between the two sides remained unresolved as they pushed for different outcomes. Netanyahu’s insistence on the destruction of Hamas and the release of all hostages remained key obstacles to reaching a resolution.
