Dominican beer industry contributes 92,483 million pesos to the economy

The Dominican Republic’s beer industry is a significant contributor to the country’s economy, generating 92,483 million pesos in 2022 and creating over 50,000 jobs. A recent study by DASA highlights the direct impact that the industry has on the economy by generating more than 3,000 direct jobs and nearly 48,000 indirect jobs through its influence on the acquisition of goods and services throughout the value chain. For every direct job in the brewing industry, 16 additional jobs are created due to the purchase of local goods and services.

The sector also pays out an estimated 13,748 million pesos in annual salaries to employees and contributes significantly to the government’s tax revenue, with an estimated 44,000 million pesos in 2022. Furthermore, the beer industry has a ripple effect on various productive sectors such as cardboard and paper manufacturing, glass bottling, packaging materials, energy and fuels, entertainment and advertising, transportation and logistics, and machinery and equipment maintenance services.
