Despite being a Boston native and a proud supporter of his city’s sports teams, Portnoy is putting his money on the Philadelphia Phillies to win the 2024 World Series. If the Phillies win, he stands to win nearly $1.5M. In Philadelphia, Portnoy made a bold move by placing a $200,000 bet on the Phillies to win the championship title.

Having experienced disappointment when his pick, the Edmonton Oilers, lost in seven games during the Stanley Cup, Portnoy remains optimistic about his new bet on the Phillies. Despite setbacks like this one, he expressed a positive outlook on social media and mentioned that all good things must come to an end while signaling the start of a new streak.

With a record-breaking season and an impressive lineup of players including Bryce Harper and Zack Brantley, the Phillies are considered strong contenders for the World Series title. According to Fangraphs.com, they are given a 14.1% chance of winning it all – behind only two other teams: Los Angeles Dodgers (18%) and New York Yankees (14.8%). Despite fierce competition from these two teams and others in Major League Baseball’s top tier, Portnoy remains confident in his bet on Philadelphia’s team.
