Bethlehem Teen Makes U.S. Team for World Freestyle Wrestling Championship

Bethlehem Catholic High School sophomore secures spot on United States world wrestling team

Sophomore Keanu Dillard from Bethlehem Catholic High School has made it to the U.S. Under-17 Freestyle wrestling team. He will be traveling to Amman, Jordan to represent the United States of America at the U-17 world championships. Dillard secured his spot on the team by winning the 55-kilogram (121 pounds) class at the U17 world team trials during the U.S. Open event in Las Vegas.

At the trials, Dillard emerged victorious in a best-of-three final against Slater Hicks of Valencia, Calif., winning both bouts and not allowing a single point. He finished his sophomore year with a record of 41-5 overall after winning the PIAA 121-pound championship in March. The U-17 world championships are set to take place in Jordan’s capital city from August 19th to 25th.
