On Wednesday night, a brutal attack occurred on the banks of the Spree in Berlin’s government district, directly across from the Chancellery. A man was stabbed around 2:30 a.m. in the area not far from a beer garden on Elisabeth-Abegg-Strasse. The victim suffered two bleeding stab wounds and was attended to by an emergency doctor from the Bundeswehr and an emergency paramedic from the nearby fire station on the Moltke Bridge.
The police questioned the man’s friends, who were in shock after the incident. The perpetrator or perpetrators were said to be on the run, and the motive behind the attack was still unknown. Further details about the attack and the circumstances leading up to it were not yet available.
The investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack, which has been classified as a case of dangerous bodily harm. The police are working closely with other law enforcement agencies to gather evidence and track down any suspects in connection with this crime.
