The Cincinnati Bengals have been making headlines in the NFL this offseason, with wide receiver Tee Higgins being franchised and now, edge rusher Trey Hendrickson has reportedly requested a trade. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Hendrickson is seeking more long-term security which the Bengals have not been willing to provide him.
Hendrickson has been with the Bengals for the last three seasons and has been a productive player, recording 39.5 sacks in 48 regular season games. He also had 3.5 sacks in the lead-up to Super Bowl LVI. However, it seems that his future sacks may come in a different uniform if the Bengals decide to grant his trade request and part ways with him now.
The news of Hendrickson’s trade request comes after the team used the franchise tag on Higgins earlier this offseason, indicating that they are unwilling to let him go but are open to negotiating a long-term deal with him.
