In 2023, Bellin Health and Gundersen Health announced that they would be merging their health systems. This decision came after 1½ years of negotiations between the two Wisconsin-based organizations. The merger was finalized under the name Emplify Health, which is a combination of “empathy” and “amplify.”
During a news conference on Tuesday, CEO Scott Rathgaber explained that the transition to Emplify Health would be a gradual process. Therefore, patients should not expect any immediate changes in the names of Bellin’s hospitals and clinics. Rathgaber also mentioned that both Gundersen Medical Foundation and Bellin Health Foundation will remain unchanged, with donations to the Bellin Foundation continuing to support services in Bellin’s area.
The rebranding to Emplify Health represents a continuation and evolution of the shared legacies of Bellin and Gundersen. A new website has been launched for Emplify Health at emplifyhealth.org. Together, Bellin and Gundersen operate 11 hospitals and over 100 clinics across Wisconsin, Upper Michigan, Minnesota, and Iowa.
