The Super Bowl is the biggest event in American sports, and every year networks take the opportunity to redesign their NFL broadcasts. This year, CBS Sports underwent a massive effort to revamp its graphics package for Super Bowl LVIII. The process involved creating full-screen animations, a new scorebug, and utilizing augmented reality technology to create a unique telecast.
To give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the buildout process of the graphics package, Komal Bhukhanwala, Senior Art Director at CBS Sports, and JP LoMonaco, VP of On-Air Graphics & Design at CBS Sports, gave a presentation at the 2024 SVG Sports Graphics Forum in New York City on February 21. Their presentation highlighted the complex and extensive efforts involved in creating the graphics for one of the largest undertakings in the history of the sports graphics industry.
The presentation was originally hosted on SVG PLAY, a platform where members and sponsors can access all SVG event panels, case studies, keynotes, and more in one place. By visiting SVG PLAY, viewers can watch this special presentation and other content related to sports graphics and design.
