Baseball Rainout: Mets Lead 4-0 in Fifth Inning as Game is Haltered

Tonight’s Mets-Yankees game is currently in a rain delay

The Mets led 4-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Wednesday’s game between the two teams was halted due to heavy rain. At that point, runners were on second and third bases with only one out. The game was scheduled to resume at around 10:10 p.m.

The Mets had taken an early lead thanks to an RBI single by J.D. Martinez and a two-run homer by Francisco Alvarez in the third inning. Alvarez continued his impressive performance with an RBI double in the fifth inning, driving in Brandon Nimmo. So far, he is 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a walk.

Meanwhile, Yankees pitcher Luis Gil struggled on Wednesday, giving up four runs on four hits and four walks in just 4.1 innings. He struck out only two batters before being pulled from the game.
