Baseball and Lacrosse Stars Shine: Courier Journal Boys Athlete of the Week Nominees for May 20th

This week, several talented athletes from the region showcased their skills on baseball diamonds and lacrosse fields. The nominees for Courier Journal boys athlete of the week are Manual junior Nicholas Ballard, Fern Creek senior Colin Knoop, DeSales sophomore Louis Lindgren, Bullitt East junior Garrison Miller, and Eastern junior Carson Shee.

Ballard led his team to a 9-0 victory over Shelby County in baseball by pitching a complete game with eight strikeouts and giving up only two hits. He also contributed at the plate with two hits in four at-bats. Knoop had an impressive performance on the baseball field by allowing no hits and striking out six in a four-inning win against Whitefield Academy. He also hit a home run and had three hits, driving in five RBIs.

Lindgren helped his team secure a 9-7 victory over Shelby County in lacrosse by scoring three goals and providing one assist. He also contributed defensively with three groundballs and two takeaways. Miller pitched a no-hit game and struck out seven in a three-inning win against Jeffersontown. Shee had an outstanding week at the plate, collecting five hits, including a home run, and driving in seven runs in wins over Elizabethtown, Meade County, and Male.
