Barcelona May Bid Adieu to Joao Cancelo as Benfica and Atletico Madrid Finalize Deal for Joao Felix’s Return

Manchester City is reportedly looking to sell Joao Cancelo, a member of the FC Barcelona first-team squad, rather than agree to another loan deal with the club. This news comes after his loan deal with Barcelona expired on June 30, 2024. Benfica is currently negotiating with Atletico Madrid for Joao Felix’s return to his boyhood club in Portugal, where he played before joining Barca last year. It appears that Felix’s move may be imminent as sources claim that Benfica is close to reaching an agreement with Atleti for 50% of Felix’s rights, making him their most expensive signing in history.

Despite Mendes, Felix’s agent, informing Barca’s Sporting Director Deco of the ongoing negotiations, the club has made it clear that they are not in a position to make an offer. As a result, it seems increasingly likely that Felix will not be returning to Barcelona next season. If this happens, it could open up opportunities for other players on the team such as Raphinha and Lamine Yamal who could secure permanent spots on the left wing and right flank respectively.
