Bangladesh defeats Nepal in T20 World Cup to advance to Super 8s

Bangladesh emerged victorious with a 21-run margin against Nepal in the T20 World Cup, advancing to the Super 8s stage. Despite a valiant effort from Nepal, they fell short of chasing a modest target of 107. Tanzim Hasan’s outstanding performance of 4-7 early on caused Nepal to collapse to 26-5. However, Dipendra Singh Airee’s impressive resistance with 31 runs kept the game alive for Nepal. Mustafizur Rahman’s crucial wicket maiden in the 19th over all but sealed the win for Bangladesh.

As a result of this victory, Bangladesh joined India, Afghanistan, and Australia in Group One for the next round, eliminating the Netherlands in the process. In their own batting collapse, Bangladesh lost four wickets for just 30 runs during the powerplay. Nonetheless, some late runs from Taskin Ahmed and Rishad Hossain helped them reach a total of just over 100. Despite the low target, Nepal struggled to chase it down on a pitch that provided assistance to both spinners and seamers.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka posted an impressive total of 201-6 against the Netherlands in their match. Kusal Mendis and Charith Asalanka both scored 46 runs each as Sri Lanka took advantage of poor Dutch fielding. The Dutch team was then bowled out for 118 by Nuwan Thushara’s excellent bowling performance (3-24). This result ended the Netherlands’ chances of qualifying for the next round of the tournament.

In summary, Bangladesh secured a hard-fought victory over Nepal in their T20 World Cup match to advance to Group One alongside India, Afghanistan and Australia after eliminating Netherlands. Meanwhile Sri Lanka set an impressive total against Netherlands which was later bowled out by Nuwan Thushara’s excellent performance to end their chances of qualifying for next round
