French Boulangeries Set World Record by Making the Longest Baguette

On May 5, 2024, a team of 18 French bakers came together to break the world record for the longest baguette in the world. The achievement was celebrated as a proud moment for France, as they reclaimed the title from Italy. The previous record was set in June 2019 by Croce Rossa Italiana in Como, Italy, with a baguette that measured 132.62 meters.

The event took place during the Suresnes Baguette Show near Paris, and the bakers had to follow strict guidelines to qualify for the record. They used only flour, water, yeast, and salt to make the baguette and had to ensure that it was at least 5 centimeters thick throughout its length. The traditional process of making the baguette began in the early morning and required a mobile oven specially designed for this attempt.
