Austrian Archery Prodigy and Indian Competitor Shine at Hyundai Archery World Cup

Compound titles won by Vennam and Wiener at season opener in Shanghai 2024

The Austrian shooter, aged 27, excelled in the 15-arrow match by not missing the eight-centimeter 10-ring and only missing the four-centimeter X-ring twice. This was a remarkable achievement, given that he had won nothing last season. Vennam, an Indian archer, will be appearing in her second Hyundai Archery World Cup after competing in Hermosillo last year. She qualified for the final by beating the top-seeded archer from Mexico in a close match.

The competition is currently underway with three stages instead of four. Points earned from high finishes in Shanghai have put archers in good positions to qualify for the final based on rankings, even if they did not win a stage like Vennam and Wiener. The recurve finals are set to conclude on Sunday at Shanghai’s competition grounds.
