Austin Tragedy: Five Injured, One Killed in Unidentified Shooting

Early Sunday morning, a tragic incident occurred in Austin when a 19-year-old woman was killed and four others were wounded in a shooting inside a business. According to police, the victims were inside a business on West Madison Street when an unknown person opened fire on the group before fleeing the scene.

The 19-year-old woman who was struck in the head tragically passed away at the scene. A 20-year-old woman suffered a graze wound to the face and a gunshot wound to the left leg, but was in good condition when taken to Rush Hospital. Another 19-year-old woman was struck in the left ankle and was in good condition when taken to Mount Sinai Hospital. A 17-year-old girl sustained a gunshot wound to the right leg and was in critical condition when taken to Stroger Hospital. Additionally, a 16-year-old girl sustained a gunshot wound to the right foot and was in good condition when taken to Stroger Hospital.

At present, police have not identified a suspect in connection with the shooting and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unknown. The shooting is currently being investigated by Area Four detectives.
