The Boys and Girls Wrestler of the Year have been nominated for the Austin Area High School Sports Awards, supported by Thomas J. Henry Law. This nine-month student-athlete recognition program acknowledges outstanding athletes, coaches, and teams from the Austin region participating in sanctioned Texas High School sports. The live show on June 12 at The Long Center: Dell Hall in Austin will announce the winners of these awards, as well as other prestigious awards for student-athletes, coaches, and teams such as the Courage Award, Coach of the Year, Team of the Year, and Boys and Girls Athlete of the Year.
Nominees for Boys Wrestler of the Year include Talan Ball from Georgetown High School, Jacob Henry from Vandegrift High School, Pablo Jaimes Mendoza from Glenn High School, Nathan Reilly from Cedar Park High School, Alec Rill from Dripping Springs High School, and Isaac Zapata from Georgetown High School. On the other hand, nominees for Girls Wrestler of the Year are Shylynn Brown from Glenn High School, Rachel Corley from Cedar Park High School, Brooke McCurley from Round Rock High School, Madison Rich from Glenn High School, Taylor Martell from Lampasas High School
