Augusta Health Appoints Experienced Healthcare Leader to Head Augusta Medical Group

Augusta Health has appointed Kris Doan as the new President of Augusta Medical Group, effective June 3. Prior to joining Augusta Health, Doan worked at Health First in Melbourne, Florida, where he served as the Chief Operating Officer for 18 years. During his tenure at Health First, Doan demonstrated strong leadership skills in managing large multi-specialty practices and overseeing strategic initiatives for growth, innovation, and performance improvement.

Clint Merritt, Chief Physician Executive/Chief Medical Officer of Augusta Health praised Doan’s leadership experience and dedication to patient care. “Kris is a highly experienced leader with a strong track record of success in managing complex healthcare operations,” said Merritt. “His values align well with our core values and we are excited to have him join our team.”

Doan holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Florida–Warrington College of Business and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He expressed his excitement about joining Augusta Health and becoming part of the Augusta Medical Group family. “I am thrilled about the opportunity to work with such an impressive provider presence and commitment to serving the surrounding communities,” said Doan. “My goal is to help strengthen the health and well-being of people in this community through our medical group.”

In other news, a new organization has been formed in Staunton to support Black businesses in the area. The Staunton Black Business Collective aims to provide resources and networking opportunities for Black entrepreneurs in order to help them succeed in business. Meanwhile, the primary election in Virginia’s Fifth District continues to be a close race, with no declared winner yet.
