In June, the iconic Golden Ball trophy that Diego Maradona won at the 1986 FIFA World Cup will be auctioned off by Aguttes in France. The late soccer star’s most famous achievement came in that tournament, where he led Argentina to its second World Cup victory and tied for the second-most goals scored. His performance included scoring two goals against England, including the controversial “Hand of God” goal, as well as the famous “Goal of the Century.” Despite not scoring in the final match, Argentina won 3-2 over West Germany. Although his Golden Ball was stolen in the past, its authenticity has been confirmed by Aguttes after its recovery. This historic award is expected to sell for millions of dollars when it goes under the hammer on June 6.
