Auburn Police Arrest Three in Bust of Illegal Gambling Operation at Local Business

Local business owner and employee arrested by police for gambling allegations

On May 8, the Auburn Police Department arrested two residents and a business owner on charges related to an illegal gambling operation at a local business. The arrests were made after detectives conducted an investigation into a suspected business on East Glenn Avenue that was operating an illegal gambling operation.

Rifat Hassan, 30 years old, was arrested on warrants for conspiracy to promote gambling and possession of a gambling device. The police department seized several gambling machines during the search of the business, which led to the arrest of the business’s only employee, 62-year-old Robert Levett, for conspiracy to promote gambling.

During their investigation, detectives recovered evidence linking the machines to illegal profits. Hassan, the business owner, was subsequently identified and arrested. Hassan is currently being held at the Lee County Jail on a $6000 bond.

The Auburn Police Department encourages anyone with information regarding illegal gambling activities to come forward so that they can take appropriate action against those involved.
