Asador Bastian, a Basque-influenced chophouse located in the heart of Chicago’s River North neighborhood, has been named one of the best steakhouses in the world. The steakhouse, which is located at 214 W. Erie Street, claimed the No. 14 spot on a new ranking of the top 101 steakhouses across the globe, released by Upper Crust Media House in London.
The ranking evaluated over 850 steakhouses worldwide and focused on meat quality, cooking methods, and customer service. Editors selected the top 101 restaurants based on eight main criteria, including meat quality, meat selection, service, and product knowledge, online presence, wine list, and restaurant interior design.
Asador Bastian stood out for its traditional Basque grilling techniques combined with a modern aesthetic. The steakhouse opened its doors in April of 2023 and quickly became a favorite among local diners and tourists alike. Bazaar Meat also made it onto the list at No. 39, just down the road from Asador Bastian. This River North establishment offers an innovative menu that includes suckling pig with a crisp exterior and tender interior as well as Wagyu beef sliders packed with flavor.
Other notable Chicago steakhouses on the list include Swift & Sons in Fulton Market District at No. 62, Bavette in River North at No. 67, GT Prime in River North at No. 75
