A recent report from David Ornstein of The Athletic suggests that Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson is considering a transfer this summer. According to the report, Nelson has expressed his desire to leave the club and several clubs, including Crystal Palace, Fulham, Nottingham Forest, and West Ham United, have shown interest in signing the 24-year-old winger.
Despite having only played 639 minutes for the first team in the 2023/24 season, Nelson has shown moments of brilliance throughout his career at Arsenal. He provided assists in a Champions League match against PSV and was a standout player in several other matches as well. However, towards the end of the campaign, he found himself dropping out of the squad.
Given his limited playing time and the potential for profit from his sale, a fee of up to £20m seems reasonable for Nelson. While he may need to accept a lower wage if he moves to one of the interested clubs, as the one initiating the transfer talks, Nelson may be open to compromise in order to secure a move away from Arsenal.
If Arsenal are able to secure a decent fee for Nelson, it would provide them with financial flexibility in the transfer market. The immediate profit from the sale of an academy player like Nelson could benefit the club in terms of accounting and future investments.
