Armenia Offers to Host Manuscripts from Gaza Conflict, Reaffirms Commitment to Peaceful Conflict Resolution

Armenia has offered to temporarily host manuscripts from the war zone of Israel and Hamas, as stated by RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan in an interview with “Al-Jazeera”. He mentioned that Armenia has a world-renowned manuscript repository where the manuscripts can be moved out of the conflict zone and returned once the situation settles down. Mirzoyan emphasized Armenia’s stance against targeting civilian populations, drawing parallels to when Armenians had to leave Nagorno-Karabakh to protect their families during the conflict with Azerbaijan in September 2023.

The situation in the Middle East escalated on October 7, 2023, when Hamas militants attacked Jewish settlements, resulting in casualties on both sides. The Palestinian enclave reported a high number of casualties from Israeli military operations. The conflict has escalated to the point where Hamas has been labeled a terrorist organization by the USA and EU, and Israel has pledged to remove Hamas from Gaza. The disproportionate response by Israel has raised concerns in many countries.

In light of these developments, Armenia’s offer to host manuscripts from the conflict zone and provide humanitarian aid demonstrates its commitment to peace and support for those affected by the ongoing violence in the region. Additionally, Mirzoyan expressed Armenia’s support for peaceful conflict resolution, including the long-standing Palestinian issue based on the “two-state” principle. As a result of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s visit to Egypt, Armenia sent 29.94 tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza, including food and medicine.
