ATU Robotics Team Places 4th in the World at the Season’s End

The Arkansas Tech University robotics team made history at the 2024 VEX U World Championship in Dallas, Texas. The world championship took place from April 28-30 at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center.

The team, led by advisor Jacob Weidenfeller, finished the 2023-24 robotics season with a top-4 global skills ranking. During the qualification matches, Arkansas Tech went 8-1 and earned a No. 10 seed in its division for the elimination competition.

In one of the most anticipated matches of the competition, ATU faced off against Purdue University. Despite a valiant effort, Purdue emerged victorious and went on to win the world championship. However, Weidenfeller praised the team’s performance, noting their exceptional autonomous period and driver execution.

The ATU team remained positive after their loss to Purdue and looked forward to continued improvement and success in future competitions. Additionally, Arkansas Tech finished sixth in the skills challenge at the 2024 VEX U World Championship.
