The University of Arizona Department of Athletics recently announced the creation of Arizona Sports Enterprises (ASE) to oversee its multimedia rights agreements and operations. This transition is part of the department’s efforts to adapt to the changing national landscape and to establish a solid financial foundation as the university enters the Big 12 Conference. By forming ASE, Arizona Athletics aims to enhance its connections with corporate sponsors, boost its brand, and focus on delivering increased value to its partners.
The decision to create Arizona Sports Enterprises will enable the athletics department to concentrate on providing a top-tier experience for student-athletes, both on the field and in the classroom. This move also signifies a shift towards a more modern college athletics model that is responsive to the evolving needs of the industry. ASE intends to collaborate with Learfield as its exclusive third-party national sales firm to further strengthen its marketing efforts and increase revenue opportunities.
Arizona Athletics boasts a rich history of success, with 22 team national championships and 201 individual NCAA titles to its name. The department sponsors 22 athletic programs and is set to officially join the Big 12 Conference in 2024. In addition to its athletic achievements, Arizona has achieved remarkable academic success in recent years, with record-breaking Graduate Success Rate (GSR) scores and department grade point averages.
During the 2023-24 season, the Wildcats secured five team conference championships, the most they have won in a single year since joining the Pac-12 Conference in 1978. Furthermore, several Arizona student-athletes have received accolades for their academic achievements, including Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors and Academic All-American recognitions.
