Apple’s venture into mixed reality technology is set to be revolutionized with the development of a stylus that will be compatible with the Apple Vision Pro viewer. The stylus, which has already undergone internal testing, will support the operating system visionOS on which the Vision Pro is based and will work with drawing applications such as Freeform and Pixelmator.

The Apple Vision Pro viewer was announced last June and launched in the United States in February at a starting price of $3,499. It introduces spatial computing technology, features a three-dimensional user interface, and supports interaction with applications through hands, voice, and eyes. The company aims to transform how people work, collaborate, connect, relive memories and enjoy entertainment with this device.

To enhance its functionality further, Apple has developed a new stylus that will be compatible with the Vision Pro viewer. Currently used only with various versions of the iPad (Pro, Air, mini), this new stylus for Vision Pro is expected to require updated software before it can be released. The company is expected to announce the second iteration of visionOS operating system at its developer conference (WWDC) in June as part of its efforts to continue innovating and expanding the capabilities of its products.
