According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is also working on hardware enhancements for the next generation of iPhones, including the iPhone 16 Pro Max. One major change will be an increase in energy density of the battery cells, resulting in better battery life. To prevent overheating, Apple will use a stainless steel casing for the first time, providing better protection for the battery and the device as a whole.
Kuo notes that these changes align with a future European Union law requiring smartphones to have replaceable batteries by 2027.
