Apple has recently sent notifications to over 90 countries, warning users about the presence of spyware on their devices. These attacks are considered one of the most advanced digital threats due to their cost, sophistication, and nature.
According to Appleās support page, these attacks target journalists, activists, politicians, and diplomats globally. The technology company advises its users to take measures to protect their computers from these well-funded attacks that can evolve over time. They recommend enabling activation lock mode, updating software, using passwords, and implementing two-factor authentication.
Apple sends notifications through different channels when it detects activity related to these threats. However, they have not specified the reason for sending these notifications as they believe it could help attackers adapt their behavior to evade detection in the future. Since 2021, Apple has been sending threat notifications several times a year, detecting mercenary spy attacks in more than 150 countries.
