Apple to Unveil Groundbreaking AI Features at WWDC, Exclusive to New iPhone Models; Encouraging Users to Upgrade Devices Amid Challenging Market

The iPhone Models Expected to Incorporate Apple’s Latest AI Technology

Apple is set to debut its new AI-focused iOS 18 at the annual WWDC event, with the upcoming iPhone 16 lineup and the iPhone 15 Pro rumored to be the only devices capable of running its cutting-edge features. Some of the anticipated AI features include AI email composition, custom emojis, and a ChatGPT-like chatbot.

Apple is making a significant push for users to upgrade to the latest models with its new Intelligence software that will include on-device features, powered directly by the iPhone’s chips without relying on cloud servers. While some AI services may still require cloud-based computing, many will not. This advancement in AI technology marks a major shift in Apple’s approach to AI and encourages users to upgrade their devices.

Users with older iPhone models may find themselves unable to access the new AI features as they will be exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro or the upcoming iPhone 16 lineup. iPads and Macs will also require an M1 chip at a minimum to support these features. Apple plans to integrate this new technology into various apps such as Mail, Voice Memos, and Photos with an opt-in option available for users.

CEO Tim Cook is optimistic that these new generative AI offerings will drive a significant device upgrade cycle in a challenging smartphone market in the US. Apple has partnered with OpenAI to power some of these features, including a chatbot similar to ChatGPT. The WWDC keynote where these features will be unveiled is set for Monday at 1 p.m. ET, and Business Insider will provide live coverage of this exciting event.
