Apple CEO Tim Cook Discusses Magic Mouse and the MacBook Air: Ergonomics, Design, and Impact

Tim Cook Contemplates Apple’s Most Controversial Product

Apple CEO Tim Cook discussed his thoughts on the Magic Mouse, one of Apple’s most controversial products, during a blind-ranking game. While he didn’t rank the products, Cook reflected on each one, highlighting the ergonomics and design of the Magic Mouse.

Cook described the creation of the Magic Mouse as an “incredible moment.” He emphasized the importance of getting the ergonomics right for the mouse, noting that people may not think about it as much as they do with other Apple devices like the MacBook Air and iPad. The Magic Mouse 2, released in 2015, faced criticism from users due to design elements such as the charging system that rendered it useless while powering up.

During an interview, Cook also looked back on one of Apple’s most iconic product launches in 2008 when Steve Jobs famously pulled the MacBook Air out of a manila envelope to showcase its thin and portable design. Cook discussed how that moment established a characteristic of the device that still resonates today. He noted that the launch of the MacBook Air was not just about sales numbers but about setting a foundation for the product.
