Apple has announced that they are addressing a bug discovered in their parental control tool, Time of Use, which is built into the Safari browser. This feature is designed to manage time and access limits for minors, helping them safely navigate the internet.
However, recent investigations have shown that the tool can be circumvented by entering a specific set of characters in the address bar, allowing users to bypass restrictions on websites not suitable for minors. This has caused concern among parents and guardians who rely on the feature to protect their children from inappropriate content.
Apple has acknowledged the issue and confirmed that they are currently working on a fix, which will be included in the next software update. The company has also stated that the bug affects web technology protocol and has been active since 2021, impacting iPhone, iPad, and Mac computers. However, it has not been widely exploited during this time.
