Antonio Conte Eyeing Romelu Lukaku as Top Summer Target for Napoli: Will Chelsea Allow Reunion with Ex-Manager?

Napoli reestablish communication with Chelsea regarding potential Romelu Lukaku transfer

31-year-old Belgian international Romelu Lukaku is a top summer target for Antonio Conte to replace Victor Osimhen at Serie A giants Napoli. Although Napoli is reluctant to pay such a high amount for a player in his early 30s, reports suggest that the two parties are set to meet and negotiate a suitable deal.

Napoli is reportedly willing to offer €25M for Lukaku, but the player himself may need to push for a move away from West London. Lukaku, who will lead Belgium’s attack in the European Championships, is under contract with Chelsea until 2026. He spent last season on loan at Roma, scoring 13 goals in 32 Serie A appearances.

Lukaku has expressed interest in reuniting with his former mentor Antonio Conte, who he played with at Inter Milan in the Scudetto-winning side of 2021. As Napoli looks to strengthen their squad after a disappointing defense of their Serie A title last season, it remains to be seen whether they can afford Lukaku’s buyout clause of €43M at Stamford Bridge or whether they can come up with a compromise that satisfies both parties.
