Members of the ECU Health team sign beam for new behavioral health hospital

The ECU Health team recently had the opportunity to contribute to the upcoming state-of-the-art behavioral health hospital in Greenville, set to open in 2025. As part of this initiative, a beam for the hospital’s gymnasium was brought for signing by team members at ECU Health Medical Center. Over 100 team members signed the beam, creating a lasting mark that will be visible even after construction is complete.

Glenn Simpson, the service line administrator for behavioral health at ECU Health, highlighted the importance of engaging team members in the lead-up to the hospital opening. By allowing staff to sign the beam, they become part of the history of the hospital and are reminded of their contribution every time they see the structure. Renderings of the upcoming hospital were displayed during the beam signing, providing team members with a visual representation of the impact their signatures will have on the new facility.

For Amy Albritton, a recreational therapy assistant in Behavioral Health Services with over 25 years of experience, being able to physically sign the beam made
