Amir Khan Warns Terence Crawford of the Risks in a Potential Fight Against Canelo Alvarez: A Reflection on Their Past Battles and the Importance of Prioritizing Safety Over Glory

Former World Champion Warns Crawford: “Canelo KO Took 5 Years Off My Life”

Amir Khan, a former opponent of both Terence Crawford and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, has warned Crawford about the risks involved in a potential fight against the Mexican superstar. Crawford recently defeated Errol Spence Jr at welterweight and would need to move up three weight divisions and 21lbs to face Canelo.

Khan, who fought Canelo for the WBC middleweight title in 2016, remembered the power and size disadvantage he faced during their fight. He advised Crawford to consider the potential consequences of facing Canelo, emphasizing the need to prioritize safety over potential glory.

Reflecting on his own experience, Khan admitted that his fight against Canelo had a lasting impact on his career. He mentioned how the knockout he suffered took a toll on him physically and mentally, affecting his performance in future fights.

Although Khan faced Crawford in 2019 for the WBO welterweight title, the outcome was similar to his fight against Canelo, with Crawford emerging victorious by sixth round stoppage. Crawford’s upcoming fight against Israil Madrimov for the WBA super-welterweight title on August 3 will see him move up another weight class, showcasing his determination to challenge himself against top opponents.
