American Weapons for Israel: Amid Concerns over Gaza Crisis

US officials reject Netanyahu’s assertions of delayed weapons deliveries

During a recent meeting with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant, American officials presented a comprehensive overview of the hundreds of arms shipments that have been sent to Israel over the past year. The European Union also expressed its concerns about the ongoing “catastrophic” humanitarian crisis in Gaza, caused by the prolonged conflict that has lasted for almost 9 months.

In response to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s accusations that President Joe Biden was delaying military aid to Israel, US officials clarified that they were reviewing each case individually with government experts. They emphasized that there were misunderstandings on the part of the Israelis and assured that progress was being made in addressing any shortcomings in the process.

During another meeting between White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and Galant, discussions continued regarding the single shipment of heavy bombs that Biden had temporarily suspended due to concerns about potential casualties. However, it was confirmed that other American weapons would still be supplied to Israel as long as the conflict in Gaza and northern Lebanon persisted.

European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell called for an immediate ceasefire approved by the UN Security Council and urged for humanitarian aid to be allowed into Gaza, which has been under strict blockade by Israel for years. Borrell emphasized the importance of ending military action, providing more humanitarian support, and considering a political solution to end the famine and bombing in Gaza.

Avigdor Lieberman, leader of “Israel Our Home” party, criticized the management of the war in Gaza by Galant and Netanyahu, stating that Israeli deterrence had diminished. Lieberman highlighted the lack of a clear plan for the war, leading to frustration among soldiers and officers. He noted that despite efforts by various parties involved, making decisions and achieving victory remains challenging in both southern and northern regions.

In conclusion, tensions remain high between Israel and Palestine as both sides continue their ongoing conflict in Gaza Strip. While there have been attempts at peace negotiations, these efforts have been unsuccessful so far. As such, it is crucial for all parties involved to work together towards finding a peaceful resolution to this ongoing crisis before it escalates further.

It is important for international leaders to take an active role in resolving this conflict as it affects not only Israelis but also Palestinians living in Gaza Strip who are suffering from severe humanitarian conditions caused by years of fighting.

The US government must continue its support towards Israel while also working towards finding a solution with Palestine. It is crucial for all parties involved to engage constructively towards finding a lasting peace agreement between them.
