Amanda Asay Inducted into the British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame

Amanda Asay, a former standout in both women’s hockey and softball at Brown University, has been selected as a member of the Class of 2024 for the British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame. The British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame is the highest sporting honor in the province, celebrating exceptional individuals and moments that contribute to British Columbia’s rich sports history. To date, the Hall of Fame has inducted 452 individuals and 69 teams into its Hall of Champions, ensuring that their legacies continue to inspire future generations.

Asay graduated from Brown in 2009 and played hockey for three seasons, participating in 19 games during the 2008-09 season. She is recognized as one of Canada’s top female baseball players, leading her country to five medals in the Women’s Baseball World Cup, including two silver and three bronze. In 2006, Asay was the only Canadian named to the World Cup All-Star team, and she also played a key role in Canada’s historic silver medal win in women’s baseball at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, the first major multi-sport Games to include women’s baseball. As a two-time recipient of Baseball Canada’s Female Player of the Year award in 2006 and 2016, Asay joined Canada’s national team at just 17 years old.
