Alleged Killer of Felicia Barbee-Battle Arrested in Jacksonville, North Carolina

Man arrested in Jacksonville for fatal shooting of business owner, identified as ex-boyfriend

Tevin Montrell Leach, 30, was arrested in Jacksonville, North Carolina on Monday afternoon for first-degree murder. The arrest came after authorities had been searching for him in connection with the murder of Felicia Barbee-Battle, 30, outside her place of business, Molly Maid.

On Monday, March 25, 2024 at 8:23 a.m., officers from the Apex Police Department were dispatched to the 1500 block of Beaver Creek Commons Dr in reference to a shooting. When they arrived, they found Barbee-Battle on the ground outside Molly Maid, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite their efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Investigators discovered that the suspect in the shooting was Tevin Montrell Leach, who had previously been to the business and was known to the workers as Barbee-Battleā€™s ex-boyfriend. On the day of the shooting, Leach entered the business and convinced Barbee-Battle to go outside with him. Moments later, gunshots rang out and led to her untimely death.

An arrest warrant for first-degree murder was issued for Tevin Montrell Leach and he was taken into custody by the Jacksonville police department without incident at 2:30 p.m.
