Alex Leatherwood, an experienced offensive lineman, has returned to the AFC West after signing with the Chargers. The details of his contract were not made public by the team. Prior to joining the Chargers, Leatherwood was originally drafted by the Raiders in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft and played in every regular season and playoff game as a rookie, starting four games at right tackle and 14 at right guard.
Despite being waived by the Raiders after training camp in 2022, Leatherwood went on to play four games for the Bears that same season. After being released by the Bears, he spent the 2023 season on Cleveland’s practice squad. Now, he is set to compete for a reserve role with the Chargers in the upcoming 2024 season. With his experience playing multiple positions on the offensive line, Leatherwood could provide valuable depth and versatility for Los Angeles as they prepare for their upcoming campaign.
It will be interesting to see how Leatherwood fits in with his new team and what contributions he can make on the field.
