Ajax have officially announced the departure of Georges Mikautadze, who impressed during the EURO 2024 tournament. The striker scored in all three of his country’s group games before Georgia was knocked out by Spain in the last 16. Mikautadze, 23, joined Ajax last summer in a deal worth around €16m from Metz. However, after just six months in Amsterdam, he returned to Metz in January. The initial deal included an option to purchase him permanently for €10m, which Metz has now exercised. Despite Mikautadze’s efforts, Metz suffered relegation. Talks are now in progress for the player to be quickly sold for a profit. Monaco is expected to finalize a deal for his transfer in the coming days.
