Ahlstrom has recently introduced innovative fluoro-free technologies for industrial air filtration applications, helping filter manufacturers create products with superior filtration performance without the need for harmful fluorochemicals. The new fluoro-free filtration materials are well suited for various industries including gas turbine air intake, air pollution control, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) applications.
The hydrophobic properties of these materials play a crucial role in maintaining top-notch filtration performance in challenging environments. In gas turbine applications, water repellency acts as a barrier against liquid water and dissolved salt infiltration, preventing corrosion to the turbine. This feature helps conserve energy by minimizing pressure drop increases in humid conditions.
Tamara Quatrano, Vice President of R&D and Product Development for Filtration at Ahlstrom emphasizes the company’s commitment to creating safe and sustainable solutions. Launching the fluoro-free portfolio is a significant step towards allowing customers to move away from harmful fluorochemistries while still achieving their required performance levels. Ahlstrom is dedicated to providing alternative fluoro-free solutions that meet customer needs while also contributing to a cleaner, safer and more sustainable future for filtration.
The new fluoro-free filtration materials are available worldwide and are produced through Ahlstrom’s Trinitex®, CellTech, and Glass production platforms. With this introduction, Ahlstrom continues its position as a leader in developing innovative solutions that prioritize sustainability and safety in the global filtration markets.
