In southern Germany, heavy rain and flooding have caused the deaths of many stork chicks. However, in one nest, the parents are now overjoyed. A craftsman and his wife have saved their babies, creating a heartwarming stork story with a happy outcome.
Three years ago, Erwin F. erected a mast with a stork’s nest behind their house, costing 1,000 euros. A pair of storks quickly made it their home. This year, despite the cold and rain, two stork chicks survived in the nest, with hopes for good weather dashed as the flood disaster began on 1 June.
Observing the nest from his terrace daily, Erwin F. realized the chicks wouldn’t survive the storm. With the help of a colleague and a forklift, they managed to bring the chicks to safety. They contacted a stork rescue center expert for guidance along the way.
