Cherokee Nation’s Male Seminary Recreation Center in Tahlequah offers free volleyball, basketball, and pickleball leagues to its citizens. The center, also known as “Markoma,” caters to a variety of sports enthusiasts by hosting cornhole and softball leagues. Terry Hooper, the Lead Rec Specialist at the center, welcomes everyone to join the sports leagues and encourages them to stay active and healthy.

Apart from sports leagues, the center provides free gym equipment and fitness classes for Cherokee Nation citizens. Non-citizens can also join by paying a membership fee of $20. The center offers an array of sports leagues throughout the year, starting with fall basketball league in November, followed by volleyball, pickleball, cornhole, and softball.

In addition to sports leagues, the center hosts a senior class three days a week where they play chair volleyball. The seniors relish the movement and activity and there are plans to expand it to four days a week soon. The Male Seminary Recreation Center is open every day of the week with various programs and activities for all age groups and interests.

The center is located at 1501 Graham Ave in Tahlequah and is open Monday through Thursday from 5 am to 9 pm on Fridays from 5 am to 7 pm on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 am to 5 pm.
