Academy Sports and Outdoors Donates $5,000 for Water Safety Efforts with Safe Kids Columbus

Academy Sports + Outdoors contributes 400 life jackets to Safe Kids Columbus

This summer, Safe Kids Columbus received a generous donation of 400 life jackets from Academy Sports and Outdoor. Valued at $5,000, this marks the 5th consecutive year that Academy Sports + Outdoors has made a significant contribution to Safe Kids Columbus at Piedmont Columbus Regional. The new life jackets will be used to promote community safety in the water during the upcoming months.

Academy Sports + Outdoors has been a long-time supporter of Safe Kids Columbus and their mission to keep kids safe in the community. In total, they have donated over $25,000 worth of items to the organization to support water safety efforts in the community.

Safe Kids Columbus is an organization led by Piedmont Columbus Regional that aims to educate children about river safety. They are hosting their annual River Savvy Kids event on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Blanton Creek Campground in Hamilton. The event is pirate themed and encourages children to wear pirate costumes while participating in fun activities and learning about river safety. Each child attending will receive a free life jacket thanks to Academy Sports and Outdoor’s generous donation.
