Aaron LaBerge Departs Disney for New Challenge as Chief Technology Officer at Penn Entertainment: What the Future Holds

High-ranking Disney technology and streaming executive stepping down from role

Aaron LaBerge, Disney’s top technology officer for over two decades, has announced his departure from the company in June for personal reasons. During his time at Disney, he played a significant role in the company’s recent efforts in streaming, including bringing Disney and Hulu under one umbrella after Disney’s purchase of Comcast’s stake in the streamer for over $8 billion last year.

LaBerge is set to take on a new challenge as the chief technology officer at gambling giant Penn Entertainment. In this role, he will lead a multinational team of technologists and be the key business leader for the company’s interactive division, which includes ESPN Bet – Disney’s newly launched sports wagering service.

Prior to his departure from Disney, LaBerge was instrumental in incorporating advertising into its streaming offerings. CNBC noted that he played a crucial role in bringing together some of the biggest names in media and entertainment under one roof at Disney.
