Investigation launched after Boeing plane engine cover falls off

In response to an incident where a Boeing 737-800 engine cowling detached during take-off and struck a wing flap, airline regulators in the US have launched an investigation. The Southwest Airlines flight, which was headed to Houston, returned safely to Denver International Airport with 135 passengers and six crew members on board. This incident has raised concerns amid ongoing scrutiny of Boeing’s manufacturing and safety practices.

Southwest Airlines has confirmed that their maintenance teams will be inspecting the Boeing 737-800 to determine why the cowling, which covers the engine, detached. The airline takes responsibility for the maintenance of such parts and prioritizes the safety of their customers and employees above all else. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) records show that the aircraft was manufactured in 2015 and is an earlier generation of the Boeing 737 model.
