Kolen made memorable interceptions in key games, including against Terry Bradshaw and Johnny Unitas in AFC Championship games. Despite a heartbreaking loss to the Raiders in the playoffs in 1974, Kolen remained a fierce competitor on the field until his retirement in 1977. Auburn University honored his legacy by naming an award for the season’s top tackler after Kolen, recognizing his contributions to the game of football.

Kolen was drafted by the Dolphins from Auburn University, where he played college football before becoming a professional athlete. During his time with the Dolphins, he was a regular starter on defense and played a significant role in the team’s success.
