A New Era for Scottish Football: More Live Matches Coming to SPFL Fans Next Season

Twenty more Premiership games to be broadcast live on TV

Live SPFL broadcasts are set to increase next season with Premier Sports acquiring the rights to show an additional 20 games. Alongside Sky Sports, who currently air up to 60 matches under a deal until 2029, Premier Sports will now share live rights to the Scottish Premiership. The BBC, on the other hand, holds the contract for Scottish Championship and League 1 games on free-to-air platforms, as well as live radio coverage and highlights of Premiership matches.

SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster expressed his excitement over the new agreement, stating that it is “tremendous news for SPFL clubs and supporters alike”. With up to 80 Premiership matches set to be broadcast live next season across both Sky Sports and Premier Sports, this will mark the highest number of live matches ever shown from the Scottish Premiership. This means that fans can look forward to a wider range of televised SPFL games to enjoy, ensuring that they never have to miss out on the action.
