A-J Business News: From Closure to Celebration and Everything in Between

Wine, Closures, and Pool among Topics Covered in Lubbock Business News

Business news in the A-J is always buzzing with excitement, and this week was no exception. From a downtown business closing its doors to a nearby town celebrating the reopening of a historic pool, and an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at a local vineyard, there was no shortage of stories to keep our readers engaged.

One of the most popular articles this week was about Burklee Hill Vineyards, an upscale restaurant located at 1109 Broadway that announced its closure on June 1. While the physical location closed, the winery will continue to operate online at burkleehillvineyards.com for the foreseeable future.

On a happier note, the community of Spur celebrated the reopening of Swenson Park Pool on Memorial Day. Built in 1936 on land donated by Erick P. Swenson of Spur Ranch, the pool had been closed for 15 years before being renovated thanks to a promise from Argo Blockchain in 2021 and upheld by new owners Galaxy Digital Holdings.

Finally, we featured Bingham Family Farms and Bingham Family Vineyards, highlighting their rich history as one of the first homesteading families in the Meadow area. The article explored their farming journey over generations and their success in Texas’ wine industry with 22 grape varieties.

Looking ahead to next week, we will be interviewing a local franchisee about everyone’s favorite place for chili cheese fries. Keep an eye out for our monthly business roundup now that May has ended. Thank you for reading and supporting A-J!
