In recent years, history has been repeating itself with receiver A.J. Brown signing a contract extension with the Eagles. Two years ago, following the draft, Brown inked a similar deal that added three years to the remaining three years on his contract.
According to a source familiar with the agreement, the new deal includes a signing bonus of $19.875 million and various base salaries, option bonuses, and workout bonuses for the years 2024 to 2029. The total guarantee at signing is $51 million, with additional amounts becoming fully guaranteed in the years to come. This effectively guarantees Brown $80 million over the course of the contract.
As a result of this extension, Brown now holds the title of the highest-paid receiver in terms of new-money average, earning $32 million per year. The deal ensures that Brown will earn at least $124 million in his career, with no per-game roster bonuses included in the new agreement.
Overall, this six-year, $164 million deal solidifies Brown’s position as one of the top-paid receivers in the league. His average value at signing of $27.33 million per year is the highest for any receiver in the NFL.
